Io, the most volcanically active world in the Solar System, was recently observed by the "Webb" spacecraft. Orbiting Jupiter, Io features over 400 active volcanoes and numerous mountains, some surpassing Everest in height.
During this mission, scientists made a groundbreaking discovery of neutral sulfur atoms in Io's atmosphere. These atoms are not volcanic in origin but rather formed by charged particles from Jupiter's magnetic field interacting with the moon's atmosphere.
