12 People Arrested in Kazakhstan for Burning Chinese Flag and Xi Jinping's Portrait

Around 30 individuals in the Uighur district of Almaty region protested for the release of Kazakh citizen Alimnur Turganbay detained in China. During the demonstration, they spoke in Kazakh and Chinese before burning the Chinese flag and a portrait of Xi Jinping.

Police intervened and arrested 12 protesters on the spot. Following this, 12 individuals received administrative detention for up to 15 days, and six others were fined. Furthermore, authorities have launched a criminal case for inciting ethnic hatred.
