Home internet providers in Moscow are swiftly introducing a "white list" system, mirroring the one already in place for mobile networks.
IT specialists from various home internet operators in the capital have been directed to promptly implement this system. The main objective is to grant users access to websites listed on the "white list" in the event of internet disruptions. This feature, currently active for mobile internet, will soon be accessible on wired Wi-Fi networks as well.
The implementation of this system brings the advantage of ensuring continuous access to essential websites and applications like banks, taxis, and delivery services during internet outages. However, a notable downside is the anticipated reduction in overall home internet speed due to the continuous traffic filtering required round the clock.
