The mission, named Oasis-1, is designed to investigate the presence and location of water ice in the permanently shadowed regions of the Moon. Two small spacecraft will be transported to the Moon using an unmanned landing module. These scouts will gather data in a polar orbit before transitioning to a controlled descent.
The proposed launch of Oasis-1 is scheduled for late 2027 or early 2028, marking a significant step in exploring the Moon's South Pole and understanding the distribution of water ice in these challenging lunar terrains.
