On April 28, 2016, at 05:01 Moscow time, the first launch occurred from the cosmodrome in the Amur Region.
The "Soyuz-2.1a" rocket successfully carried the "Lomonosov," "Aist-2D," and "SamSat-218" spacecraft into their designated orbits, marking a milestone in Russian space history.
Vostochny Cosmodrome, the world's first civilian cosmodrome, boasts a total area of approximately 700 km². The complex includes a Soyuz Launch Complex with various facilities for pre-launch and launch operations, an Angara Launch Complex designed for up to 10 launches per year, and a Technical Complex for launch preparation. Notably, the airport's runway, operational since 2025, facilitates spacecraft delivery by air transport, enhancing efficiency. Additionally, 12 houses have been constructed to accommodate personnel at the cosmodrome.
