In a response to students using AI to generate essays, universities in Russia are beginning to cancel this type of assignment. The Institute of Atomic Energy of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI in Obninsk, Kaluga Region, was the first to take action, as teachers grew weary of reading AI-generated content that lacked proper editing.

While the complete elimination of essays is not yet in effect, universities are now mandating that any remaining essay submissions must be handwritten, signaling a shift towards ensuring genuine student effort in academic work.
