Researchers have analyzed almost five decades of satellite observations of the Sun's X-ray radiation, spanning from 1975 to 2025.
Two distinct activity rhythms have been pinpointed in the data, with cycles lasting around 1.7 years and approximately 7 years.
In the current 25th solar cycle, researchers have identified two periods of heightened risk. The first interval is forecasted to occur from mid-2025 to mid-2026, predominantly affecting the southern hemisphere of the Sun. The second period is anticipated to take place in 2027, primarily impacting the northern latitudes.
