In contrast, individuals aged 50-59 have taken the lead, constituting 16.5% of the population, a substantial increase from the 7.8% recorded in 1950. Looking ahead to 2100, projections suggest that children under 10 will make up a mere 5% of the population. The most prominent demographic group in China by then is anticipated to be individuals aged 80-89, making up a significant 18.8% of the population, a stark contrast to the 2.2% currently and a mere 0.6% in 1950.
