Seven cars of the Chelyabinsk-Moscow passenger train derailed, with a total of 15 cars and 415 passengers on board. Six of the derailed cars overturned near Bryandino station in the Cherdaklinsky district.

Following the incident, traffic in the area has been halted. Russian Railways has sent restoration trains from Ulyanovsk, Bugulma, Syzran, and Ruzaevka stations to the site to address the aftermath.
