Over the last 30 years, G-20 nations have made progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Australia, the US, Canada, and the UK have all seen a decrease in emissions per capita. Notably, Australia, the top emitter in 1990, has reduced its emissions from 27 to 22.3 tons of CO2 per person.
On the other hand, Saudi Arabia has seen a significant increase in emissions, claiming the top spot currently with emissions per capita rising from 14.5 to 22.8 tons. China has also experienced a substantial increase, more than tripling its emissions, although it still falls behind other countries in terms of per capita numbers.
