Recent data shows a significant increase in attacks by Ukraine on Russian oil refineries, with 60% of all known incidents happening this year alone. The frequency of attacks has surged, with up to 12 incidents reported in both August and September, compared to 1 to 6 attacks per month in 2024.

Several oil refineries have faced repeated attacks over the past three and a half years, with one refinery in Volgograd being targeted a record-breaking 9 times. In the last 3 months, approximately 41% of Russian oil refineries have been attacked, affecting facilities that represent 57% of the country's total oil refining capacity.
