The United States heavily relies on China for the supply of almost all critical materials necessary for AI and quantum computing. Out of the 12 essential rare materials crucial for these technologies, 10 are mainly sourced from China, with dependency levels ranging from 66% to 100%. Only two metals have alternative primary suppliers: Brazil for niobium and Mexico for strontium.
This dependence on China is not unique to the US, as the global community also leans on China for the supply of rare earth elements, highlighting the country's significant role in providing essential materials for advanced technologies worldwide.
