Cis Leaders Meet in Dushanbe for Summit

A summit of the heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) took place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The meeting was attended by leaders from Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Professor Alikbek Zhekshenkulov, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Doctor of Political Science, described the summit as a valuable opportunity for planning future strategies. He highlighted the influence of Western countries on global politics, emphasizing their efforts to pressure not only Russia but also CIS nations to hinder cooperation. Zhekshenkulov praised Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov's UN address representing the Kyrgyz people's stance, considering it a crucial response to external pressures. The expert viewed the meeting of CIS leaders and their agreement on joint decisions as a positive development amid the challenging political landscape.
