The leading gold-producing mines are located in Nevada, USA, and Muruntau, Uzbekistan, with both yielding a staggering 2.7 million ounces (76.5 tonnes) of gold each in 2024. Following closely are the Indonesian Grasberg mine, producing 1.9 million ounces, and the domestic Olimpiada mine, yielding 1.4 million ounces.
In fifth place is another Uzbekistan deposit. Surprisingly, Uzbekistan and Indonesia share the top spot for the number of mines in the top 10, with each country having two mines on the list.
