Eyewitnesses in the Karkaraly district recently filmed what they initially thought were bisons but turned out to be American bisons. These animals have been thriving in the Buratau National Park since 2020, with a group of ten individuals. In 2023, the park celebrated the birth of the first offspring.

The American bisons in the park are not only agile and playful but also striking due to their long, thick fur, powerful build, and impressive horns. An adult bison can weigh several hundred kilograms, adding to the awe-inspiring sight they create in the Kazakhstani national park.
