Kazakhstan and Korea Collaborate on "Smart" City Development in Alatau

Kazakhstan and the Korean Corporation for Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development (KIND) have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on the development of the "smart" city Alatau. The agreement follows discussions between Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev and KIND President Kim Pok-hwan.

The Alatau Smart City project, which was introduced to the Korean side during a roadshow in Seoul, may involve KIND in various infrastructure aspects such as energy, water supply, water purification, wastewater treatment, and waste processing. Bozumbaev expressed gratitude for the support from many Korean companies towards the Alatau Smart City project and suggested the establishment of a KIND office in Kazakhstan, along with exploring potential collaborations in logistics and port infrastructure.
