According to UBS data, the median adult in China owns assets worth $27,000. This means half of China's population owns less wealth, while the other half owns more. In comparison, the global average is $8,654.
In Russia, the median wealth per adult stands at $8,595 based on the same data, which is three times lower than in China! However, the average wealth for a Russian is nearly $40,000 - a five-fold difference. Interestingly, almost all countries outside the wealthy regions of Europe, USA, Australia with New Zealand and Japan are economically poorer than China on a median basis. Even Eastern Europe is starting to fall behind.
