The share of individuals spending over 40% of their income on housing varies across European countries. Countries with low incomes or high prices tend to have the highest relative housing expenses.
In Greece, around 29% of residents allocate more than 40% of their income to housing, which is relatively low compared to other European nations. Conversely, in Denmark, the percentage is 22.7%, in Norway - 21%, and in Switzerland - 20.4%, reflecting the higher incomes in these regions.
In contrast, countries like Croatia have only 3.4% of the population facing such high housing costs, along with the Balkans, Lithuania (4.2%), and Ireland (5.7%), where the percentage of people with significant housing expenses is notably lower.
