The Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) recently conducted a test on four widely used chatbots a week before the elections. The results revealed a concerning trend where the chatbots consistently advised users to vote for the right-wing PVV and left-wing GroenLinks-PvdA parties, disregarding other options like the centrist CDA. Even when users' preferences matched with centrist views, the AI failed to recommend these parties.
The AP has raised alarms about the potential impact of relying on AI-generated voting advice, labeling it a significant threat to democracy. The regulator's findings indicate a bias in the AI algorithms that could influence voters' decisions, compromising the integrity of the electoral process.
