Deadly Avalanche Strikes "Irokinda" Mine in Buryatia

One person was found dead under snowdrifts at the "Irokinda" mine in Buryatia after a massive avalanche hit the area. The avalanche measured 150 meters in length, 50 meters in width, with a snow depth of 3 to 6 meters, and a total snow volume between 22,500-45,000 cubic meters.

The incident occurred as nine mine employees were clearing a road when the avalanche suddenly engulfed them. While three workers managed to escape, six others were trapped under the snow, resulting in one fatality. The mine is owned by the gold mining company "Irokinda," previously a part of Nordgold under PJSC "Buryatzoloto."
