Women Startle Urban Birds More Than Men

Women tend to startle urban birds more than men, according to a study by psychologists, ornithologists, and experts from five European countries. The research, based on 2500 observations involving 37 birds, revealed that pigeons, sparrows, and crows are more fearful of women. The birds flew away approximately a meter sooner when approached by a woman compared to when approached by a man. This behavior may be linked to evolutionary memory, possibly from historical times when women were more involved in hunting, as well as differences in natural scent.
