First Test Launch of the Next-Generation "Soyuz-5" Carrier Rocket

On April 30 at 9:00 p.m. Moscow time, the inaugural test launch of the new Russian medium-class carrier rocket "Soyuz-5" occurred from Site 45 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

The "Soyuz-5" features the world's most potent liquid rocket engine, representing a significant milestone in rocket technology advancement. This event marks the commencement of flight and design trials for the next-generation rocket.

During the launch, the first and second stages of the "Soyuz-5" operated as expected, successfully deploying a mockup on a predetermined suborbital path. The stages then safely landed in a designated area in the Pacific Ocean, ensuring no interference with maritime or aviation routes. The rocket's key advantages include reduced cost per unit weight for payload delivery, a doubled payload capacity of up to 17 tons with precise deployment, and the use of environmentally friendly fuel components.
